Hank Fisher Properties is a proud member of the Sacramento community. Our staff participates in many community and professional events and organizations.
The Salvation Army (2009 – present)
For more than five years, Nancy Fisher has served on the Salvation Army Advisory Board of Sacramento. Each year during the holiday season, employees of Hank Fisher Properties volunteer their time to assist in bell ringing, Angel Tree toy bagging, and meal box assembly.
In 2014, the Salvation Army provided 2,150 families and 6,000 children with meals and toys for the holidays. Members of the Hank Fisher Properties corporate office were proud to help in the effort by assembling meal boxes for those in need.
Sacramento Speakers Series (2013 – present)
Hank Fisher Properties is proud to be a sponsor of the Sacramento Speakers Series, a lecture series that showcases contemporary insights from some of today’s most influential figures in a candid and relaxed setting.
World leaders, newsmakers, and celebrated personalities featured in past series have included President Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev, Leslie Stahl, Bob Newhart, Ken Burns, Tim Russert, Madeleine Albright, Mary Matalin & James Carville, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Frank Deford, Lily Tomlin, Bob Woodward & Carl Bernstein, General Colin Powell, Tom Brokaw, Dr. Jane Goodall, Ina Garten, Steve Wozniak and Condolezza Rice.
In January of 2014, Hank Fisher Properties was the presenting sponsor of Dr. Andrew Weil’s appearance at the Sacramento Community Center Theater as a part of the series. An internationally renowned leader and recognized expert on integrative medicine, Dr. Weil presented the latest information on health and wellness, and even taught the audience how to de-stress using a special breathing technique recommended and practiced by Dr. Weil.
Hank Fisher Properties returned as the presenting sponsor for award-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Other prominent celebrities featured in the series included culinary pioneer Alice Waters; former Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates; television journalist, author and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper; famed long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad; and New York Times columnist, PBS NewsHour analyst and National Public Radio contributor, David Brooks.
Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera “Two in Tune” Partnership (2013 – 2015)
A partnership between Hank Fisher Properties and the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera’s “Two in Tune” program provided transportation services for thousands of local students to experience the magic of live theater and musical performances. Many children have never been exposed to a live symphonic or operatic performance; this program was designed to open up another artistic dimension to children who may otherwise only experience music through a computer or mobile device.
“When I first heard of this partnership opportunity, it had an electric sense of purpose behind it,” said Nancy Fisher, President and CEO of Hank Fisher Properties. “However, most importantly, this program helped schools reverse the financially driven decline in their ability to connect young people with different art forms.”
Without private support, such as the Hank Fisher Properties donation, transportation costs would prevent multiple schools from connecting local students with professional classical music.
As part of this program, students attended a full rehearsal of “Traditionally Modern” by the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra, Giuseppe Verdi’s famous grand opera, “Il Trovatore,” and an orchestral rehearsal for the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra’s “Violin Magic.”
SPCA Partnership (2010 – 2012)
With the presentation of a check for $35,000, Hank Fisher Properties became the largest single contributor to the local SPCA’s Senior Services Program, which helps seniors retain and care for their beloved pets.
The funds were raised through a golf tournament organized and sponsored by Hank Fisher Properties at Del Paso Country Club. The event is now planned to be held annually in spring.
Through Hank Fisher Properties’ support of the Seniors Services Program, the SPCA is able to provide low-cost pet care workshops, discounts on pet adoptions, obedience training, a helpline for animal behavior consultation, “Love on Loan” pet visits to senior residences, and other services. These services are designed to enable the elderly to enjoy the health and wellness benefits of pet ownership.
“Hank Fisher Properties has been working to enhance the lives of seniors for over 35 years,” Nancy stated, “so, we are pleased to team with the SPCA to help older adults maintain relationships with their beloved animal companions. Pet ownership can be especially beneficial to seniors and we are happy to support services that allow them to maintain these valuable relationships.”
